A $5 remainder note from the Bank of Jacksonville, Florida. This bank opened in 1837 and subsequently failed in 1838. According to online research, some of those notes that were remaining, were illegally put into circulation in 1841 with fraudulent signatures, and never assigned a date. This $5 note is not one of those issues that was part of that 1841 illegal activity.
Issued in 1837. No serial number or signatures.
Conservatively graded and encapsulated by PMG "VERY FINE 30".
This scarcer issue features several scenes from the 19th century on the front. The backside is blank with no printing.
Dark printing and strong details. Thin paper that is crisp and clean. Nearly fully framed. A few folds and evident on the backside. NO tears, stains, repairs, ink erosion or pinholes.
