Up for your consideration is a very nice $5 CSA note, that features C. G. Memminger, The Secretary of the Treasury for the Confederacy from 1861 to 1864. This was the Confederate issue that President Lincoln had in his pocket when we was shot on April 14th 1865, at Ford's Theatre.

Engraved by Keatinge & Ball in Columbia, SC. Dated February 17th 1864. Plate letter F, series 2. Serial # 71376 hand written at the top right. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED+ condition.

Crisp paper. Dark details. Nice signatures and numbering. Good color on both sides. NO tears, stains, ink erosion or hard evidence of circulation. Just a couple light handling creases are noted, as well as a couple pinholes.

Nearly fully framed, but trimmed right inside the line at the bottom left corner and lower right side margin. A portion of another note is seen at the top margin. These notes were hand cut apart from large sheets, and not machine cut as done today. That is one reason you find irregular cuts with Confederate currency.

A high grade note that features very nice eye appeal. The note pictured is the one you will receive.
