Up for your consideration is a very nice $5 CSA note, that features C. G. Memminger, The Secretary of the Treasury for the Confederacy from 1861 to 1864. This was the Confederate issue that President Lincoln had in his pocket when we was shot on April 14th 1865, at Ford's Theatre.

Engraved by Keatinge & Ball in Columbia, SC. Dated February 17th 1864. Plate letter F, Series 2. Serial # 71370 hand written at the top right. EXTREMELY FINE+ condition.

Crisp paper. Dark details. Nice signatures and numbering. Good color on both sides. A couple pinholes are noted. Fully framed at the top and left side with ample margins. Hand cut tight at the bottom and right side margins. A portion of another note is seen at the top right corner.

NO tears, major stains, ink erosion or hard evidence of circulation. Minor ink stain on the backside, probably due to this note being placed on another note with wet ink. One fold at the left side, and a couple light handling creases are noted.

A higher grade note that is guaranteed for life to be a genuine issue. Your satisfaction is always guaranteed.
