Up for your consideration is a very nice $5 CSA note, that features C. G. Memminger, The Secretary of the Treasury for the Confederacy from 1861 to 1864.

Engraved by Keatinge & Ball in Columbia, SC. Dated February 17th 1864. Plate letter F, series 2. Serial # 71352 hand written at the top right. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED+ condition.

Crisp paper. Dark details. Nearly fully framed, but trimmed just inside the line at the top margin, which is what is keeping this note from being graded as "CHOICE", in our opinion.

Nice signatures and numbering. Good color on both sides. NO folds, tears, major stains, ink erosion or hard evidence of circulation. A few small pinholes are noted. Minor ink stains on the backside. Just a couple light "bank teller" handling creases are evident.

Ample margin at the left side. Extra margin at the bottom, showing a portion of another note that was below this one on the sheet. These notes were printed on large sheets, consisting of (8) notes. They were hand cut apart, not machine cut as done today. That is one reason you find irregular cuts, and even a portion of another note visible, like this example shows.

This example presents very well in hand, and would be classified as "CHOICE" by most market grading standards.
