A genuine $20 note from the Civil War era. Printed by Keatinge & Ball in Columbia, SC. Dated February 17th 1864. Hand written serial number hand written in two places...80580. No series. VERY GOOD+ condition.
Dark details. Reddish color on the front, giving this note nice eye appeal. Crisp paper with numerous folds and creases. A portion of the CSA Treasury seal is seen at the lower left corner. Fully framed with a full borderline visible. Extra margin at the top, showing a small portion of another note. No pinholes. Some minor staining on the backside. Two 1/4" tears into the top margin and two more into the right side margin. A highly collectible signature combination, "BLACK / WHITE" very clearly written. Minus the tears, this note would be "CHOICE FINE+/VERY FINE". Even with the flaws, this note presents very well, and is collectible with the desirable signature combination. Price: RESERVED |
