A nice example of this famous 1864 $50 “Havana Counterfeit”. Counterfeited heavily in Havana, Cuba.

Dated February 17th 1864. Plate letters ZA, 1st series. Hand written forged "Johnson-Baker" signatures. Machine printed serial number of 93566. VERY FINE+ condition.

Crisp paper. Dark details. Sharp corners. Not much evidence of circulation, but there are a few light folds and creases. No pinholes.

The famous Confederate currency historian, Grover Criswell writes that these notes were produced in Havana and smuggled into Mobile. These counterfeits circulated heavily during the War, by unsuspecting citizens and soldiers. They are not to be confused with all the copies and reproductions on the market that have no value.

A very popular contemporary counterfeit from the Civil War era. Your satisfaction is always guaranteed.
