Up for your consideration is a very collectible 1862 Confederate $100.00 T-41 note. VERY GOOD condition. Scroll #1. Plate letter Z.

Dated November 24th 1862. Printed by Keatinge & Ball in Columbia, S.C. Serial # 72231 hand written in red ink.

Plain paper. Fairly worn and limp from heavy circulation. All the details still remain visible. Nice signatures. Several tears on the outside margins.

On the backside a scarce Military endorsement from Captain (later Major) Watkins L. Wickham of Alabama. On the date of this endorsement, he was an assistant Quartermaster serving under General A. S. Johnston. According to online sources, he was at the Battle of Shiloh, when Commanding General A.S. Johnson was killed on the first day.

This issue endorsement reads:

Issued 5th
February 1863
W. L. Wickham
Capt. & AQM

Information on this endorsement is found in Mike McNeil's 2016 book "Confederate Quartermasters, Commissaries, and Agents" on pages 589-591. His book is an excellent resource if you are looking to learn more about notes that have endorsements.

Two stamps on the backside showing interest was paid at Augusta in 1864, and later at Columbia, S.C. in 1865.

Despite being circulated through many hands during the Civil War, this note still retains a very desirable Military endorsement in scarcer red ink. On consignment for a short time, available for your collection. Your satisfaction is always GUARANTEED.
