This issue counterfeit was very deceptive and fooled many people during the War (not to be confused with the many novelty notes and copies on the market today that have no value).
First series. Plate letter 6, which is proven all too often to be a counterfeit. ‘Hope’ on the right side with anchor has an odd face compared to the original, and Stephens face looks different.
Very crisp, toned paper. NO folds, hard creases, bent corners, tears or pinholes. A bit of staining on the backside, and one very light handling crease at the top left, mentioned for accuracy. Two minor hinge remnants on the backside corners, which do not detract from the front sides eye appeal.
Nicely cut with a full borderline visible. Great eye appeal. Guaranteed for life to be a genuine counterfeit from the Civil War era
